Man of Steel attempts to win over new fans

Hopes are high for this year’s Superman movie "Man of Steel". For one, its 2006 film “Superman

Returns” didn’t live up to box-office expectations. British actor Henry Cavill, the first non-American

to play Clark Kent, may be a little pressured to make this $175 million movie worth producers’ time.

But perhaps like anyone who celebrates a milestone in life (it’s turning 75 years old this year), Clark

Kent is reportedly struggling to come to terms with his own super powers in this dark and gritty

movie by director Zack Snyder.

Judging from the plot of the latest Superman movie, the comic book superhero that inspired several

movies and TV shows wishes to gain new fans among digital natives as the story sticks to its

traditional, 1978 movie.

And if you’re too young to remember Superman, here’s an infographic that will reintroduce you to

the character that produced generations of die-hard fans.

The “Man of Steel” premieres in Philippine theaters on June 12 or one week ahead of its screening in

the United States.
